ROADRUNNERS CRUISE PAST GOTHIC KNIGHTS, 13-0, 8-2

Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College softball team swept a NJAC Conference double header today against New Jersey City University, 13-0 and 8-2. The Roadrunners now stand at 26-6 overall and 13-3 in the conference while the Gothic Knights fall to 10-24 overall and 2-14 in the conference.

Game 1: The Roadrunners would score one run in the first inning as rookie Katie Donnelly (North Haledon, NJ) singled to centerfield to lead off then stole second base. She advanced to third on a groundout and scored on sophomore Marilee Farmer (Toms River, NJ) sacrifice fly to centerfield.

That's all Ramapo would need as New Jersey City would only pick up three hits in the game. The Roadrunners pounded out 16 hits, including seven doubles while scoring 13 runs.

Junior Katie Norton (Livingston, NJ) picked up the win pitching four innings of work, only giving up two hits. She raises her record to 12-2 on the season.

Senior Beth Choma (East Brunswick, NJ) was 2-3 with one run scored and three RBI while junior Lauren Cascino (New Windsor, NY) was 2-2 with one run scored and one RBI.

Game 2: Donnelly scored from third base in the top of the first inning for Ramapo as Choma ripped a sacrifice to right field. The Gothic Knights would tie the game in the bottom half of the first inning on a Andrea Delucrezia (Belleville, NJ) infield groundout, scoring Susie Matsutani (Gallup, NM) who reached on a walk.

The Roadrunners would take the lead for good in the 2nd inning. Senior Leah Mondadori (Rutherford, NJ) and senior Michele Rossi (Emerson, NJ) ripped back to back doubles to pick up one run before sophomore Amanda Sansevere (Hazlet, NJ) singled to left field to bring Rossi home. Cascino then doubled home senior Ginny O'Brien (Emerson, NJ) who singled earlier in the inning and Sansevere.

Ramapo picked up two more runs in the third inning on Rossi's homerun to left centerfield scoring sophomore Kelly Schriber (Montclair, NJ) who doubled to get on base. Choma picked up an RBI double in the fourth inning scoring Donnelly who singled to center to leadoff.

The Gothic Knights picked up one more run in the 5th cutting the lead to 8-2. Matsutani ripped a single to center field before advancing to third on a walk and a groundout. Delucrezia picked up the RBI as she grounded out to shortstop.

Senior Marissa Marino picked up her 12th win of the season, pitching five innings and striking out three. Camb pitched the final two innings for Ramapo, yielding only one hit and two strikeouts.

Donnelly was 2-3 with two runs scored, Cascino was 2-3 with 2 RBI and Rossi was 2-2 with two runs scored and three RBI.

The Roadrunners return to action on Friday, April 27th as they host Hunter College for a 3:00 PM match-up.
