TCNJ NAMED 2007 NJAC CHAMPIONS FOR 25th TIME WITH 9-0 WIN OVER RAMAPO

Mahwah, NJ:  After traveling to William Paterson this morning and earning a 9-0 shut out victory over the Pioneers, the Lady Lions of the College of NJ made the short trip to Mahwah, NJ where they posted a second 9-0 victory, this time over the Roadrunners to be crowned 2007 NJAC Champions for the 25th time in the program's history.  The Lady Lions' NJAC streak dates back to the Fall of 1982 with 121 matches won.  The team's overall win streak for TCNJ is 11 regular-season matches dating back to March 31, 2007.

With the loss, the Roadrunners fall to 8-3 overall and 2-1 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference while the Lady Lions improve to 5-0 overall, 5-0 in the conference.

Jackie Shtemberg (Franklin Lakes, NJ) posted a 6-0, 6-0 victory at first singles over Alison Tukel (Morris Plains, NJ) before pairing up with Christina Contrafatto (Cherry Hill, NJ) at first doubles earning an 8-1 win.  Rookie Amanda Berg (Mendham, NJ) posted a 6-2, 6-0 singles victory at second singles and Contrafatto followed at third singles with 6-1, 6-1 win over Kristine Austria (Jersey City, NJ).  Stefanie Haar (Morganville, NJ), Sarah Roser (Bernardsville, NJ), and Lindsay Katzel (Boyds, MD) wrapped up singles action earning, 6-0, 6-0: 6-1, 6-1, and 6-2, 6-0 victories respectively.

Berg and Haar paired up at second doubles going 8-1 and Roser and Tamra Wroblesky (Freehold, NJ) posted a shut out 8-0 victory at third doubles defeating the Roadrunners, 9-0 in the conference match-up in Mahwah.

The Roadrunners return to action on Sunday, October 7th when they travel to Rutgers Newark for a NJAC competition at noon.
