Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College women's tennis team posted a 7-2 NJAC victory today over the Scarlet Raiders of Rutgers Newark at the Athletic Center in Mahwah to improve to 4-1 overall, 3-0 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference. Rutgers Newark falls to 3-6 overall, 1-3 in the conference.

Junior Lindsay Gerhard (Cape May, NJ) and senior Hollis Grant (East Brunswick, NJ) dropped the only doubles match-up today falling short, 9-8 (7-4) to Megan Reed (Montclair, NJ) and Nicole Rubinetti (West Orange, NJ) of Rutgers Newark at the first single spot. Liza Wyble (Millville, NJ) and Jennifer Murphy (Whiting, NJ) posted a 9-7 doubles victory while Becky Drexl (Franklin, NJ) and Ashley Wnek (Colonia, NJ) followed with a doubles win of their own, 8-4 over the Scarlet Raiders pair.

Heading into singles action, Grant defeated Reed, 6-3, 6-3 before Rutgers Newark's Rubinetti grabbed a 6-2, 2-6, 7-5 victory over Gerhard at second singles. Ramapo swept the final singles match-ups including a 6-4, 6-4 Alison Tukel (Morris Plains, NJ) win over Fergie-Ross Montero (Jersey City, NJ) at third singles and a Jenn Finaldi (West Milford, NJ) 7-6 (7-4), 6-3 win over Fatima Grammatica (Union, NJ) at fourth singles. Wyble and Murphy rounded out Ramapo's seven points posting 6-3, 6-2 and 7-5, 6-1 victories at the fifth and sixth singles spots respectively.

The Roadrunners return to action when they host Gwynedd Mercy, Monday, September 25th at 6:30 PM while Rutgers Newark faces Manhattanville, Friday, September 29th home at 4:00 PM.
