RAMAPO, WILLIAM PATERSON SOFTBALL SPLIT 2-7, 3-2 IN MAHWAH

Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College softball team split a NJAC double header today in Mahwah, NJ. With the split both teams have identical records of 20-9 overall and 6-6 in the NJAC.

Game 1: The Roadrunners dropped the first of a double-header match-up, 7-2. The Pioneers got on the board early in the 3rd inning posting two hits with three runs on two Ramapo errors. The Pioneers loaded the bases before pinch hitter Megan Reilly (Middlesex, NJ) hit a ball back to the pitcher for a fielder's choice and was later misplayed by Ramapo to score three runs for William Paterson.

Ramapo answered back with two runs of their own in the bottom half of the third inning. Ginny O'Brien (Emerson, NJ) had an infield single and moved up to third when Erica Moore (Hazlet, NJ) and Becky Pollak both walked. Lisa Rizzo (Dumont, NJ) then ripped a single to right field scoring two runs.

William Paterson scored four runs on three hits as Ramapo committed two crucial errors in the top of the 4th inning. Nicky Arias (Princeton Junction, NJ) was hit by a pitch and scored on a throwing error by Ramapo. Diana Schraer (Paramus, NJ) then hit a sac fly with the bases loaded to score pinch runner Kathy Wehmann (Harrington Park, NJ) from third base. April Sardinas-Wyssling (Plainsboro, NJ) then singled to centerfield to score Mindy Coxe (Gloucester City, NJ) who hit a single to get on base. Brandi Kavaliauskas (Sicklerville, NJ) then hit a sacrifice bunt that scored Fields for the final run of the inning.

For the Roadrunners, Rizzo was 1-2 on the day with 2 RBI's while Mickey O'Connor (Madison, NJ) went 1-1 and O'Brien went 1-1 with 1 run scored. For the Pioneers, Sardinas-Wyssling was 2-4 with 1 run scored and 1 RBI and Arias went 1-2 with 1 run scorded.

Katie Norton (Livingston, NJ) took the loss for the Roadrunners falling to 5-3 as she only gave up 2 earned runs, as Ramapo committed four errors in the game. Schraer picked up her 10th win of the season for the Pioneers as she struck out 3 and walked 3, giving up 4 hits and 2 earned runs.

Game 2: The Roadrunners came back in game two, 3-2. Moore ripped the first pitch offered by Schraer in the first inning over the center field wall to put Ramapo up 1-0.

The Pioneers answered back to tie the score at one in the bottom of the first inning. Sardinas-Wyssling singled and was sacrificed to second by Kavaliauskas. Ana Abourashed (Middlesex, NJ) then ripped a double to right field to tie the game. Ramapo scored one run in the top of the second inning as Michele Rossi (Emerson, NJ) singled to centerfield before Moore's deep fly ball to centerfield was misplayed, allowing Rossi to score.

William Paterson tied it up yet again in the bottom of the third inning when Coxe singled home Arias who reached on a single to leftfield.

Ramapo took the lead for good in the top of the fourth inning. Rossi doubled to centerfield and advanced third on a sacrifice from O'brien. With two outs in the inning relief pitcher Jenn Scott ( , NJ) threw a pitch in the dirt passing catcher Coxe allowing Rossi to score giving the Roadrunners the 3-2 lead. Ramapo then held the Pioneers over the next three innings to take game two.

Marissa Marino (Wayne, NJ) pitched a complete game giving up two earned runs and seven hits. She struck out two while walking one bringing her record to 7-4 on the season. Scott was took the loss for the Pioneers, coming in relief for Schraer in the third inning. Scott struck out three and walked two. Schraer pitched the first two innings giving up four hits and two runs, one earned.

Moore went 1-3 in game two with one run scored and two RBI's and Rossi went a perfect 3-3 in game two with 2 runs scored. Arias went 1-3 with one run scored in game two and Coxe went 1-2 with 1 RBI for William Paterson.

The Roadrunners return to action April 21, 2006 when they host Hunter College at 3:00 PM for a non-conference double header.
