Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College women's basketball team played host to the Stevens Institute of Technology tonight at the Bradley Center in a non-conference match-up posting a 47-67 loss. Ramapo falls to 1-5 overall dropping five straight while Stevens remains undefeated at 8-0.
In the first half of play, the game remained close until 13:21 when the Roadrunners held at one point, 13-12, lead. Stevens pulled away heading down a 9-0 run to take a 21-13 lead, sparked by Dora Enright (Longmont, CO) who hit a jumper netting her second basket of the night. Stevens finished the first half with a 13-0 run to spread their lead to 17 at the intermission. Stevens forced 15 Ramapo turnovers and netted 15 of their 25 opportunities while Ramapo forced Stevens to turn the ball over just nine times. Ramapo hit seven baskets on 20 attempts. Enright posted eight first half points hitting 4-6 while grabbing three steals and Dani Dudek (Rockaway, NJ) and Sarah Gehring (Spokane, WSH) each contributed seven points hitting a combined 5-8. Kelly Bartz (Madison, NJ) led the Roadrunners in the first half with ten points hitting 4-8 including two three-pointers.
Stevens kept control in the second half taking the game, 67-47 hitting 56% of their shots in the win. The Ducks spread their lead to as many as 21 with 6:48 left to play and Ramapo cleaned up their game in the final minutes only turning over five. Enright finished the night with 18 while pulling down four boards. Gehring netted 16 and Brittany Fuller (East Rockaway, NY) wrapped up the night with 13. Jean Matusiak (Queens, NY) grabbed a team high four steals while dishing out a team high six assists.
For the Roadrunners, Bartz finished the game with a team high 15 points hitting 6-15 including three three-pointers and
Keona Palmer (Port Reading, NJ) dished out four assists in the loss. Ramapo sunk 19-51 (37%).
The Roadrunners returnt o action on Monday, December 11th when they travel to Baruc for a non-conference match-up at 6:00 PM while the Ducks take on Mt. St. Mary College on Saturday, December 9th at 5:00 PM.
