Mahwah , NJ : The Ramapo College women's soccer team played host to the Valiants of Manhattanville College in their 2005 season opener earning a 1-0 victory starting the year at 1-0. The Valiants fall to 0-1 to start the year.

Junior DANA CHIAPPONE (Marlboro, NJ) gave the Roadrunners a 1-0 lead at 13:58 that held to the final second earning the Roadrunners their first shut out of the season. The goal came unassisted.

Senior goalkeeper CHRISTY TURNER (Ringwood, NJ ) and sophomore keeper SAMANTHA GRIBBEN (Pequannock, NJ ) split time in front of the net combining for one save.

Junior goalie Michele Ribeiro (West Hartford, CT ) of Manhattanville posted 13 saves in the full 90 minutes letting up one goal.

The Roadrunners ripped 19 total shots to the Valiants two while Ramapo fouled nine times to Manhattanville's five. Each team was called for offsides once.

The Roadrunners will travel to the University of Maine Maritime this weekend for a tournament beginning on Saturday, September 3rd.
