CAPPADONA NETS 1,000th CAREER POINT IN 71-65 VICTORY OVER WILLIAM PATERSON

Mahwah , NJ : Senior captain JANINE CAPPADONA (Atlantic Highlands, NJ ) posted her 1,000th career point in Ramapo's 71-65 win over the Pioneers of William Paterson University tonight at the Bradley Center in Mahwah. Ramapo improves to 11-13 overall, 5-10 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference while William Paterson falls to 13-11 overall, 9-6 in the conference.

CAPPADONA shot 3-6 from the field and 2-4 from behind the arc in the first twenty minutes helping Ramapo to an eight point (35-27) halftime lead. Sophomore KEONA PALMER (Port Reading, NJ) led the team sinking 11 in the first while junior VANESSA VARGAS (Union City, NJ ) added eight of her own. The Roadrunners shot 44% (11-25) over WPU's 41% (12-29). William Paterson's Luci Custis (Roselle, NJ ) led the Pioneers in the first sinking seven. Ramapo led the entire first half spreading the gap to as many as 11.

The Roadrunners kept control in the second wrapping up the game shooting 46% (22-48) over the Pioneers 35% (23-65).

CAPPADONA finished the game with 19 points while VARGAS led the way posting 21 shooting 7-15 from the field, 4-7 from behind the arc. CAPPADONA and VARGAS dished out a combined nine assists while grabbing five steals combined. PALMER wrapped up the night with 17 and ALISON BELLER (Morris Plains, NJ) led the team grabbing eight total rebounds. For the Pioneers, Custis shot 5-14 in the game sinking 14 while Michelle Pellichero (Milltown, NJ) recorded 14 of her own shooting 4-14 from the field, 4-9 from three-point range. Alima Williams (Somerdale, NJ ) and Sheakia Jackson (Newton, NJ ) each grabbed three steals and Melissa Moore (North Bergen, NJ ) dished out a team-high two assists in the loss.

The Roadrunners will wrap up the 2004-2005 regular season at Richard Stockton on Saturday, February 19th at 2:00 PM while the Pioneers will host Rutgers Camden at 3:00 PM.
