Mahwah , NJ : The Ramapo College women's tennis team defeated the Cougars of Caldwell College, 6-3 improving to 8-1overall today at the Athletic Center . Caldwell drops to 3-1 on the year.

At first singles, ERIN MCDOWELL (Prospect Park, NJ) fell to Oksana Manoukian (Old Tappan, NJ), 6-0, 6-1 while sophomore MELISSA JUELL (West Milford, NJ) followed with a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Stacy Zafiris (Palisades Park, NJ) in the 2nd spot. JOSIE TRIPODI (Cliffside Park , NJ ), BECKY DREXL (Franklin , NJ ), and LIZ FORTUNATO (Toms River, NJ) each added singles victories while HOLLIS GRANT (East Brunswick , NJ ) fell just short, 6-4, 7-5.

In doubles action, Ramapo posted two shut out victories, 8-0, JUELL and ASHLEY WNEK (Colonia, NJ) and LINDSAY GERHARD (Cape May, NJ) and GABRIELLE GONZALEZ (Middletown, NJ) over Erin O'Neill (River Edge, NJ) and Joellen Keaney (Oak Bluffs, MA) and Danielle O'Connell (South Amboy, NJ) and Elaine Mancebo (Newark, NJ) respectively.

The Roadrunners will host Rutgers Newark on Friday, October 1st at 3:30 PM .
