Mahwah , NJ : The Ramapo College women's tennis team improved to 3-0 today at the Athletic Center with a 7-2 victory over the Hawks of Hunter College. Hunter drops their season opener now standing at 0-1 overall.
In singles action, ANDREA TESTA (West Orange, NJ) grabbed a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Tracy Hansel (Mandeville, Jamaica) at first singles while ERIN MCDOWELL (Prospect Park, NJ) followed with a 6-3, 4-6, (11-9) win in the second singles hole. LINDSAY GERHARD (Cape May, NJ) recorded a 6-1, 6-3 victory and BECKY DREXL (Franklin, NJ) and LIZ FORNAROTTO (Toms River, NJ) rounded out singles play with a 6-0, 6-1 and 6-2, 6-4 victory respectively.
Sophomores HOLLIS GRANT (East Brunswick, NJ) and JENNIFER MURPHY (Whiting, NJ) dropped the first doubles match-up, 8-2 to Hunter's Hansel and Antigone Jzalas (Bronx, NY) while MELISSA JUELL (West Milford, NJ) and ASHLEY WNEK (Colonia, NJ) paired up earning an 8-5 victory over the Hunter pair. GABRIELLE GANZALEZ (Middletown , NJ) and GERHARD posted an 8-1 victory at third doubles.
