RAMAPO SLIDES BY CSI TO ADVANCE TO ECAC FINALS

Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College men's basketball team slid by the Dolphins of the College of Staten Island today at the Athletic Center, 90-73 to advance to the finals of the 2004 ECAC Championship Tournament. Ramapo improves to 22-6 overall while CSI finished their season standing at 19-9.

Ramapo dropped in seven and Staten Island sunk four in the opening minutes of the game before Ramapo went on a 10-0 run to take a 17-4 lead at the 13:19 minute mark. Ramapo led the entire game, by as many as 20 in both the first and second half. Junior ELIAZAR VELEZ (West New York, NJ) led Ramapo shooting 8-9 from the floor, 2-2 from the line. AMIN WRIGHT (Jersey City, NJ) recorded a double-double with 17 points and ten rebounds while senior GREG MCBAIN (Waldwick, NJ) grabbed ten boards of his own. JARED MILLIGAN (Ringwood, NJ) shot 5-10, 2-4 from behind the arc, for 16 points and junior QUAMEIR HARDING (Jersey City, NJ) netted ten of his own. Senior JAY DEGROAT (Middletown, NY) grabbed four steals while dropping in four points in the game. The Roadrunners shot 35-68 (52%) from the field over Staten Island's 28-70 (40%).

The Dolphins were led by junior guard, Michael Stewart (Brooklyn, NY), with 20 points shooting 9-19 from the floor, 2-7 from behind the arc. Michael Nebavlakis (Brooklyn, NY) dropped in 13 points while rookie Robert Mesjasz (Staten Island, NY) netted ten of his own. Mesjasz pulled down nine boards while Neville Lestrade (Staten Island, NY) grabbed nine of his own. Stewart dished out a team-high three assists.

Ramapo advances to play NYU in the 2004 ECAC finals, tomorrow at 2:00 PM in Mahwah.
