Osceola, FL: The Ramapo College softball team wrapped up their spring training week dropping nine of their ten opponents. The Roadrunners finished the week with two shutout victories, 7-0 over Millikin and 9-0 over the University of the South.
vs. Millikin: Ramapo opened to a 4-0 lead in the 1st inning and scored the last three in the 3rd dropping Millikin, 7-0. With bases loaded after ERICA MOORE (Hazlet, NJ) singled to lead off, ANDREA PASTIGLIONE (Southern California, CA) reached on an error, and MICHELE ROSSI (Emerson, NJ) walked, senior MICHELLE MICKLOS (Tuxedo, NY) walked bringing in MOORE to take a 1-0 lead. PASTIGLIONE and ROSSI both scored on errors and MICKLOS scored on a RBI single by MARISSA MARINO (Wayne, NJ). Senior SHELLIE GUIDER (Jefferson, NJ) scored in the 3rd after pinch running for MICKLOS who walked to get on base, and later reached home on a fielder's choice play. Rookie GEMMA CHALKLEY (West Milford, NJ) pinch hit posting a RBI single driving in ELIZABETH CHOMA (East Brunswick, NJ) and VIRGINIA O'BRIEN (Emerson, NJ) ripped a RBI single of her own driving in the last run scored by CHALKLEY.
CHOMA hit 3-4 with one run while MOORE, MARINO, and O'BRIEN all posted one hit on two at bats. MOORE added a run and O'BRIEN recorded a RBI in the victory. CHALKLEY went 1-1 with one run and one RBI.
Rookie pitcher MARINO earned the win pitching 5 2/3 innings with three strikeouts and two walks, improving to 3-0 for the year.
vs. University of the South: Ramapo wrapped up the week with a 9-0 victory over the University of the South scattering nine runs over four innings for the shutout. The team opened to a three-run lead in the first after MOORE singled and PASTIGLIONE drove a triple bringing in the first run of the game. ROSSI was hit by a pitch and then stole second as PASTIGLIONE stole home bringing in run two and ROSSI wrapped up the inning scoring on a fielder's choice play. PASTIGLIONE drove a double and later scored while ROSSI touched the plate to post Ramapo's fifth run in the win. ALICIA CRUZ (East Brunswick, NJ) and GUIDER recorded runs in the 4th and COURTNEY GAMBETTA (Woodbridge, NJ) ripped a double in the bottom of the 5th scoring CHRISTINA TRAPHAGEN (Toms River, NJ) and JANINE PACYNA (Bayonne, NJ) to end the last game of the Rebel Spring Games, 9-0 over the University of the South.
PASTIGLIONE hit 2-2 including a double while ROSSI went 1-1 with two runs and one RBI. GAMBETTA drove in three runs and CHALKLEY and CHOMA added one RBI each. Senior pitcher JAMIE ANZALDI (Clifton, NJ) earned her fourth win of the season pitching the complete game recording six strikeouts with only one walk.
