Mahwah , NJ : The Ramapo College women's tennis team shut out the Scarlet Raiders of Rutgers Newark, 9-0 today in Mahwah. The Roadrunners improve to 9-1 overall, 3-1 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference while Rutgers Newark falls to 2-5 overall, 1-3 in the conference.
Senior ANDREA TESTA (West Orange, NJ) dropped Kristina Lopez (Manila, Phillipines), 6-0, 6-7, (7-2) at first singles while ERIN MCDOWELL (Prospect Park, NJ) added a second singles victory in the second spot shutting out Lina Sanchez (North Bergen, NJ) 6-0, 6-0. MELISSA JUELL (West Milford , NJ ) posted a 6-0, 6-2 win and JOSIE TRIPODI (Cliffside Park , NJ ) followed with a 6-4, 6-1 victory of her own. Rookies LINDSAY GERHARD (Cape May , NJ ) and BECKY DREXL (Franklin , NJ ) wrapped up singles action with 6-0, 6-3 and 6-0, 6-1 wins respectively.
In doubles action, sophomores JENNIFER MURPHY (Whiting, NJ) and HOLLIS GRANT (East Brunswick, NJ) dropped the Scarlet Raider pair, 8-3 while JUELL and ASHLEY WNEK (Colonia, NJ) paired up at second doubles recording an 8-2 win over Lopez and Melissa Guthman (Jersey City, NJ). GERHARD and GABRIELLE GONZALEZ (Middletown , NJ ) posted an 8-2 doubles victory of their own dropping the Scarlet Raiders, 9-0 in NJAC action.
The Roadrunners will travel to SUNY New Paltz tomorrow, October 2nd at noon .
