Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College men's basketball team defeated the Ospreys of Richard Stockton College tonight at the Athletic Center, 95-79 improving to 12-4 overall, 2-3 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference. Stockton falls to 10-6 overall, 4-2 in the conference.
Ramapo opened to a 17 point lead, 25-8, just over seven minutes into the game. By the end of the first half they stretched the lead to 20 before ending, 53-35 over the Ospreys. The Roadrunners shot 20-34 (59%) in the half over the Ospreys 13-34 (38%). The Roadrunners led by as many as 24 in the second half of the match-up and Stockton came within nine, but fell short dropping their second NJAC game of the season.
Senior guard CHARLES RANSOM (Jersey City, NJ) led Ramapo with 29 points shooting 11-15 from the floor, 6-7 from behind the arc, while senior JARED MILLIGAN (Ringwood, NJ) netted 18 of his own, 6-11 from the floor, 6-9 from the arc. RANSOM grabbed five boards and three steals while MILLIGAN pulled down seven and stole three of his own. AMIN WRIGHT (Jersey City, NJ) shot 6-10 for 15 points and junior ELIAZAR VELEZ (West New York, NJ) shot 6-6 for 14. VELEZ recorded six rebounds in the game. Rookie point guard ANTOINE PRYOR (Jersey City, NJ) dished out a team-high six assists.
Stockton was led by junior Brian Hiltner (Margate, NJ) who posted a double-double with 27 points and 13 rebounds. Hiltner shot 10-19 in the game. Tobias Smith (Newark, NJ) recorded 18 points shooting 7-12 from the floor and 4-8 from behind the arc and Kevin Vaughn (Mt. Olive, NJ) and Rob Freeney (Piscataway, NJ) tallied 12 and eight of their own. Boo Evans (Cape May, NJ) and Vaughn each contributed four assists.
Ramapo will travel to The College of New Jersey on Saturday, January 24th at 3:00 PM.
