ROOKIES, MOORE & PASTIGLIONE DRIVE RAMAPO SWEEP OVER ROWAN

Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College softball team remains undefeated as they swept the Profs of Rowan University today at the Athletic Center. The Roadrunners improve to 25-3 overall, 16-0 in the NJAC dropping the Profs 8-5 and 6-0. The Profs fall to 18-14 overall 9-7 in the conference.

Game 1: Ramapo jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the 1st after ERICA MOORE (Hazlet, NJ) singled to center field to lead off the inning. MOORE later scored on MICHELLE MICKLOS's (Tuxedo, NY) RBI double that also scored ANDREA PASTIGLIONE (South California, CA) who also singled to get on base. MOORE and PASTIGLIONE each posted a run in the 2nd inning to take a 4-0 lead. PASTIGLIONE hit a RBI single to score MOORE and later scored on a passed ball. Rowan scored two runs of their own in the 3rd. Sherri Cate (Cranford, NJ) doubled to center field to lead off, Erin Byrne (South Plainfield, NJ) singled to center to score Cate, and Byrne scored on an error to put the Profs within two. The Roadrunners posted one in the 5th and three in the 6th pulling ahead 8-2 before Rowan closed the gap in the 7th with three runs scored. Crystal Barbour (Erial, NJ) singled to lead off, Cate singled, Barbour scored on a wild pitch, Byrne hit a single to center scoring Cate and Danielle Schweers (South Plainfield, NJ). Schweers walked to get on base. Junior pitcher TARA SOLAN (North Bergen, NJ) came in to relieve junior pitcher JAMIE ANZALDI (Clifton, NJ) in the 7th with one out. SOLAN struck out Nicole Panikiewsky (Carteret, NJ) to end the game, Roadrunners 8, Profs, 5.

MOORE and PASTIGLIONE led Ramapo hitting 3-4 with three runs and 4-4 with three runs and one RBI respectively. For Rowan, Byrne hit 2-4 with one and three while Cate went 3-3 with two runs in the game.

ANZALDI earns the win improving to 14-0 with two strikeouts and two walks in 6 1/3 innings. SOLAN earns the save. Sara Dickey (Skippack, PA) recorded the loss posting one strikeout and no walks, giving up seven hits and four runs, three earned, in 1 2/3 innings.

Game 2: Ramapo posted six runs on ten hits in their shut out game two victory. The Roadrunners took a 3-0 lead in the 3rd after MOORE doubled to lead off the inning, PASTIGLIONE singled to center to score MOORE, KELLY KERNAN (San Diego, CA) walked, and LISA RIZZO (Dumont, NJ) singled to center field to score LAURA GOLD (Staten Island, NY) (pinch runner for KERNAN), and PASTIGLIONE. The team added three more in the 5th with LAURA GERMANO's (Park Ridge, NJ) 3RBI triple shutting out Rowan 6-0.

MOORE and PASTIGLIONE went 2-4 and RIZZO posted three hits on four at bats with one run and two RBI. Lisa Schmied (Hainesport, NJ) posted the lone hit for the Profs in the game.

SOLAN recorded the win improving to 11-3 with five strikeouts and two walks letting up one hit. Julie Undercuffler (Sicklerville, NJ) recorded the loss with one strikeout and two walks in five innings pitched.

The Roadrunners will host USMMA tomorrow at 3:30 PM.
