RAMAPO SWEEPS TCNJ TO REMAIN UNDEFEATED IN NJAC

Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College softball team remains undefeated in the New Jersey Athletic Conference after sweeping the Lions of The College of New Jersey, 4-3 and 4-1 at the Athletic Center. The Roadrunners improve to 17-3 overall, 8-0 in the NJAC while the Lions fall to 18-8 overall, 5-5 in the conference.

Game 1: Ramapo jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the 1st after rookie ANDREA PASTIGLIONE (South California, CA) hit a RBI double to drive in rookie ERICA MOORE (Hazlet, NJ). KELLY KERNAN (San Diego, CA) doubled to right field driving in PASTIGLIONE and MICHELLE MICKLOS (Tuxedo, NY) reached on a fielder's choice driving in KERNAN to take a 3-0 lead. Jennifer Kichula (Hightstown, NJ) singled in the 2nd driving in Kristin Meister (Basking Ridge, NJ) who doubled to get on base. TCNJ posted one more in the 4th and Ramapo added insurance in the 7th downing The College of New Jersey, 4-3.

MOORE and MICKLOS hit 1-3 with one run and one RBI respectively and PASTIGLIONE went 1-3 with one run and one RBI. KERNAN posted one hit on three at bats with a run and RBI while rookie LISA RIZZO (Dumont, NJ) went 1-2 including a solo homerun. For the Lions, Meister posted two hits on four at bats while Kichula went 2-4 with one RBI.

Junior JAMIE ANZALDI (Clifton, NJ) earned the win improving to 10-0, striking out two in seven innings. Jessica Donohue (Highland Mills, NY) recorded the loss with three strikeouts and no walks.

Game 2: Ramapo posted four runs on 12 hits including a solo homerun by senior LAURA GERMANO (Park Ridge, NJ) dropping the Lions, 4-1. JACKIE MORRIS (Wanaque, NJ) drove in RIZZO taking a 1-0 lead in the 2nd. College of New Jersey fought back posting a run in the 3rd to tie the game with two outs, Michele Meier (Bethlehem, PA) singled driving in Carolyn Kaschak (Berwyn, PA). Ramapo jumped ahead by two in the 4th with runs by GERMANO who homered and MORRIS who singled to get on base. ALICIA CRUZ (East Brunswick, NJ) added the fourth run in the 7th to record the 4-1 victory over the Lions.

MOORE hit 4-4 with two RBI while GERMANO went 2-2 with one run and one RBI. MORRIS was 2-4 and CRUZ went 1-3 with one run. Kaschak went 1-3 for the Lions with one run and Meier and Karen Murphy (Cedar Grove, NJ) each posted one hit on three at bats.

Senior TARA SOLAN (North Bergen, NJ) recorded the win improving to 7-3 with four strikeouts and four walks while Kelly Quigley (Pompton Plains, NJ) posted the loss with no strikeouts and two walks in seven innings pitched.

The Roadrunners will take on New Jersey City tomorrow at 1:30 PM.
