CONFERENCE RIVALS FACE OFF

Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College softball team defeated the Red Hawks of Montclair State, 1-0 and 4-0 today at the Athletic Center. The Roadrunners remain undefeated in the New Jersey Athletic Conference standing with four wins and no losses. Ramapo improved to 13-3 overall while the Red Hawks fall to 18-4 overall, 3-3 NJAC.

Game 1: Ramapo posted the lone run of the game in the 2nd inning. LAURA GERMANO (Park Ridge, NJ) hit a single to lead off and rookie LISA RIZZO (Dumont, NJ) hit a double to cross GERMANO. Ramapo posted one run on six hits while Montclair tallied no runs on two hits. Rookie ERICA MOORE (Hazlet, NJ) hit 2-3 in the game while GERMANO posted one hit on two at bats with one run. RIZZO went 1-2 with one RBI while KELLY KERNAN (San Diego, NJ) went 1-2. Junior pitcher JAMIE ANZALDI (Clifton, NJ) pitched a two-hitter earning her eighth win of the season with seven strikeouts, one walk, and no runs scored. ANZALDI remains undefeated. For the Red Hawks, Nicole Pacicco (Tinton Falls, NJ) and Kari McDonnell (Wrightstown, NJ) recorded the only two hits going 1-3 in the game. Crystal Sweeney (Edison, NJ) falls to 11-2 with four strikeouts and one walk giving up six hits and one run.

Game 2: Game two remained scoreless until the 5th inning when Ramapo's MICHELLE MICKLOS (Tuxedo, NY) hit a double to score MOORE and JANINE PACYNA (Bayonne, NJ). MOORE singled to lead off the inning and PACYNA pinch ran for KERNAN who walked to get on base. MICKLOS hit a sacrifice fly to center to score MOORE and RIZZO hit a RBI singled to score KERNAN to take a 4-0 lead after seven. MOORE posted two hits on three at bats with two runs while MICKLOS went 1-3 with three RBI. RIZZO was 2-4 with a RBI and ANDREA PASTIGLIONE (South California, CA), GERMANO, JACKIE MORRIS (Wanaque, NJ), and sophomore JETT McGURK (Pompton Plains, NJ) all went 1-3 in the game. Junior TARA SOLAN (North Bergen, NJ) pitched 5 1/3 innings, striking out four, walking four, and giving up only one hit. SOLAN earned the win improving to 5-3 for the season. ANZALDI wrapped up the game with one strikeout in 1 2/3 innings. Montclair's Pacicco recorded the one hit in the 6th inning. Anthansia Totaro (Roseland, NJ) recorded the loss striking out two, walking one, and giving up two earned runs in five innings pitched.

The Roadrunners will travel to William Paterson tomorrow at 3:30 PM.
