MORAVIAN ADVANCES TO FINALS, 4-2 OVER RAMAPO, ALLEGHENY ELIMINATED BY UNION , 3-2

RAMAPO ADVANCES TO FINALS, 6-0 OVER UNION

Game 1: #1 Moravian vs. #2 Ramapo

Ramapo put up the first run of the game in the top of the 2nd on two errors by the Greyhounds taking a 1-0 lead. Catcher Lisa Rizzo (Dumont , NJ ) reached on an error by the third baseman and senior Shellie Guider (Jefferson , NJ ) crossed home plate on an error in the outfield after pinch running for Rizzo. Moravian tied the game and took the lead in the bottom of the inning after a sac bunt by Danielle Carrione (Bloomfield , NJ ) scored senior Melissa Soroka (Newton , NJ ) who ripped a single to center to lead off. Carrione came home on a single to right by Lauren Homa (Chalfont , PA ). Rizzo ripped a solo home run over the left field wall in the 4th tying the game at two and Moravian took the lead once again with two unearned runs in the bottom of the inning. Leading off, Jessica Esposito (Madison, NJ) reached first on a catcher's interference and Heather Bortz (Allentown, PA) reached on a fielder's choice. Leah Holmes (Clarks Green, PA) drove in Stephanie Eddinger (Allentown , PA ) who pinch ran for Esposito and Bortz crossed the plate on a wild pitch for a 4-2 lead. Senior pitcher Donna Weiner (East Hanover , NJ ) posted a 1-2-3 , 5th, 6th, and 7th inning earning the 4-2 win over Ramapo.

Weiner improves to 16-1 striking out four and walking one in seven innings while senior pitcher Jamie Anzaldi (Clifton , NJ ) falls to 20-6 striking out three and walking none in six innings.

Homa hit 1-3 with one RBI while Soroka batted 1-3 with one run. Eddinger and Bortz added one run a piece in the win.

Game 2: #3 Allegheny vs. #4 Union

Union took a 1-0 lead in the top of the 4th when Erika Eisenhut (Mohawk, NY) was hit by a pitch with one out, stole second, and was driven home on a single to left by Colleen White (Westport, CT). The Dutchwomen went up 3-0 with two runs in the 6th by Abby Arceneaux (Mechanicville , NY ) and White. Arceneaux hit a lead off single and White ripped one with two outs driving in Arceneaux. White came home on a single to center by Caitlin DelZotto (Altamont , NY ). Allegheny closed the gap in the bottom of the 6th off a single to the short stop by Shawn Gledhill (Erie , PA ) which crossed Giannina Coccaro (Miami , FL ) who ripped a single to center to lead off the inning. Gledhill posted the second run of the inning off another single to center, this time by Sarah Johnston (Renfrew, PA), closing the gap, 3-2. Arceneaux posted a 1-2-3 7th inning earning the victory over the Gators.

White posted two hits on three at bats with one run and two RBI while Arceneaux hit 1-3 with one run. DelZotto hit 2-3 with one RBI and Eisenhut added one run of her own. For the Gators, Gledhill went 2-3 with one run and Johnston recorded one hit on three at bats with one RBI.

Arceneaux earns the win improving to 12-2 striking out eight and walking none in seven innings while Coccaro records the loss striking out four and walking one in the complete game. Coccaro falls to 12-7.

Game 3: #2 Ramapo vs. #4 Union

Ramapo's Erica Moore (Hazlet , NJ ) walked to lead off the top of the 1st and later came home on an error by the center fielder giving Ramapo a 1-0 lead. Rookie Michele Rossi (Emerson , NJ ) ripped a single to center and sophomore Rizzo reached on a fielder's choice to get on base. Rossi came home on a single by Michelle Micklos (Tuxedo, NY) and Rizzo crossed the plate on a double by rookie Elizabeth Choma (East Brunswick, NJ) giving the Roadrunners a three-run edge. In the 5th, Ramapo added a fourth run on a RBI single to left by Choma scoring Rossi who ripped a single with one out. Sophomore Andrea Pastiglione (Southern California , CA) ripped a solo home run and Rizzo touched home after singling to get on base pushing Ramapo, 6-0 over Union . Anzaldi pitched a complete two-hit game improving to 21-6, striking out nine and walking three in seven innings. Jackie Coffey (Boston , MA ) records the loss falling to 11-3, striking out two and walking two.

Rossi hit 2-4 with two runs while Choma went 3-4 with two RBI and Rizzo posted one hit on three at bats with two runs. Moore and Pastiglione each batted 1-3 with one run and one run and one RBI respectively. For the Dutchwomen, Arceneaux hit 1-3 while Beth Carcone (Utica , NY ) went 1-2.

Ramapo will face #1 Moravian tomorrow at noon in the NCAA East Region Finals.
