Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College women's tennis team defeated SUNY New Paltz, 5-4 today at the Athletic Center improving to 14-3 overall. SUNY New Paltz falls to 8-2.
Kerry Farrell (Rockville Center, NY) defeated ANDREA TESTA (West Orange, NJ), 7-5, 6-4 at first singles and MELISSA JUELL (West Milford, NJ) followed at second singles recording a 6-3, 4-6, 6-2 victory over Amanda Rosario (Bronx, NY). JOSIE TRIPDOI (Cliffside Park, NJ) and HOLLIS GRANT (East Brunswick, NJ) fell short in singles action, 5-7, 3-6 and 3-6, 3-6 respectively behind Sara Goldstein (Merrick, NY) and Jen Larson (Port Jervis, NY). Rookie JENNIFER MURPHY (Whiting, NJ) and junior LAUREN DOOLEY (Sayreville, NJ) rounded out singles play posting 6-3, 6-0 and 6-2, 6-0 victories respectively.
MURPHY and GRANT paired up falling short, 8-5 to SUNY New Paltz's duo Farrell and Larson while TESTA and TRIPODI followed with a 9-7 win. DOOLEY and GABRIELLE GONZALES (Middletown, NJ) rounded out Ramapo's points with an 8-1 win dropping New Paltz, 5-4.
The women will host Drew on Wednesday, October 22nd at 3:00 PM for their final match of the 2003 season.
