Mahwah, NJ: The Roadrunners opened NJAC competition today at the Athletic Center against conference rival William Paterson University. Ramapo dropped WPU, 3-1 in game one of double header play. William Paterson took game two with a 4-0 victory over Ramapo.
Game 1: Sam Kszepka (New Egypt, NJ) drove in Jen Menges (Union Beach, NJ) in the top of the 2nd to give the Pioneers a, 1-0 lead. The Roadrunners fought back in the 6th and scored the tying run off a single by junior LAURA GERMANO (Park Ridge, NJ). KELLY-ANN DIGIULIO (Mahwah, NJ) scored the go ahead run after singling to get on base. Junior KELLY KERNAN (San Diego, CA) drove in two more to give the Roadrunners the 3-1 victory over the Pioneers. Rookie ALICIA CRUZ (East Brunswick, NJ) went 2-3 with one run scored.
Pitcher JAMIE ANZALDI (Clifton, NJ) posted the win with ten strikeouts and one walk.
Game 2: William Paterson took the lead in the 2nd and never looked back. Kszepka, who hit a single to get on base, scored off a sac fly by Morgan Dunlap (Jefferson, NJ). WPU scored two more in the 4th and one more in the 5th to record the 4-0 victory. Kszepka went 3-3 with one run scored and one RBI while Liz Carroll (Dennisville, NJ) also went 3-3 with one RBI.
Kszepka recorded the win with two strikeouts and two walks.
Senior center fielder, Courtney Heller (Sewell, NJ) recorded her 125th career run against the Roadrunners which breaks the all time school record of 124 set by Michele Ferraro from 1989-1992. CONGRATULATIONS!
The Roadrunners will travel to St. Joe's Patchogue on Thursday, April 4th at 3:30 PM.
