Coach Mike Eineker enters his ninth season as the head coach of the Ramapo women’s basketball team.
In his first year, Eineker took a team that only posted four wins overall and zero in conference play the year before, and led them to a 10-15 overall record, 4-9 in conference play. He has continued to improve the strength of the program tallying 15 wins in just his third season at the helm of the program, and 17 wins in 2012-2013. The 15-win mark was a program best since the 2001-2002 season.
During the 2009-2010 season, Eineker led his team to the NJAC Championship Post-Season Tournament, the first appearance for the team since 1993, and only the second appearance in the history of the program. The team went 11-15 overall that season, earning the #3 seed for post-season play. Since that season the Lady Roadrunners have made appearances on two more occasions in the NJAC Tournament, and three in the ECAC Championship Tournament.
Before coming to Ramapo he spent four years at the helm of the women’s program at FDU-Florham, where he led the Devils to a 61-48 overall record. In 2007-2008, Eineker led the Devils to a program-high 18 wins, and in 2005-2006 he set the best win percentage in school history, going 17-9 overall (.654). Eineker led his team to three ECAC Championship Tournament appearances, and two appearances in the Freedom Conference Championship Tournament. Wrapping up the 2007-2008 season, the Devils defeated King’s in the semi-finals, 56-47, before recording a heartbreaking loss to DeSales, 75-60, falling just short of the championship crown.
Before his tenure at FDU, Eineker coached boys’ basketball at Boonton High School, from the 2001-2002 season through the 2003-2004 season. In three years, he compiled a 36-31 record. In his first season, he took the team to the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association tournament, somewhere they had not gone for six years. They went again the following year.
Eineker has gained a variety of basketball coaching experience, working at many different levels and institutions. He began his coaching career as an assistant women’s basketball coach at Princeton University for the 1995-1996 season, helping the Tigers to the Women’s National Invitational Tournament. Following his stint at Princeton, he served as an assistant coach with the women’s team at Lafayette College for two seasons, 1996-1998. He helped the Leopards to the Patriot League Championship Game in 1997. His first head coaching job followed, as he took the reins of the Bloomfield College women’s program from 1998-2000. At Bloomfield, he led the Deacons to CACC playoffs both years, winning the first round game both times. Following that, Eineker took an assistant coaching position with the women’s team at Boston University for the 2000-01 season before moving on to Boonton High School.
Eineker graduated from Montclair State University in 1995. He played one year of basketball at Caldwell College. A Bloomfield High School graduate, he now resides in Clifton, New Jersey with his wife Amanda and their two sons, Patrick and Declan.
