Katina Johnson

Katina Johnson is in her first season as a member of the Ramapo College women's basketball coaching staff in 2015-16. Coach Johnson was inducted into the Ramapo College Athletic Hall of Fame in 2010.

The Paterson, N.J. (John F. Kennedy) native has a coaching background that began in 2014 as the assistant of the Grace Chapel City League Boys Basketball in Passaic County, N.J. In addition to basketball operations, Coach Johnson volunteers as a mentor for young boys and girls in the urban areas helping them develop ideas and keeping them focused on a plan for the future.
 
Coach Johnson has a great passion for the game of basketball, and returns to her alma mater this season after earning her bachelor’s degree in Visual Arts from Ramapo College in 1994.  The New York Liberty and Seattle Storm of the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) recruited Coach Johnson.
 
Coach Johnson was a member of the Ramapo College women’s basketball team from 1990-1994. Over her four-year career, Johnson helped lead the program to 48 overall victories and 32 in the conference play. In her freshman campaign, she led the team with 262 points, while earning a team leading 441 points in her sophomore year, being named to the ECAC 1st Team All-Conference. In the 1991-92 season, Johnson also led the way in rebounds with 286. In the 1992-93 season, Johnson led the way again in points, this time with 544, and for her efforts on the court that season, she was named to the NJAC All-Conference 1st Team, as well as the ECAC 1st Team All-Conference for second time in two years. That same year, Johnson became only the fifth female in women’s basketball history to break 1,000 points in a career. At the conclusion of her fourth and final year with the program, Johnson was again honored by the NJAC earning NJAC 2nd Team All-Conference honors. She wrapped up her collegiate career tallying 422 points, 16.9 per game, and 11.6 rebounds per game, both team leading statistics.
 
Coach Johnson chose to take her career in a different direction in Fashion and Print.  She attended school in New York City to study Fashion Illustration at Mood U University. She has been working in the advertising/print and fashion industry for 15 years working with high profile clients. Coach Johnson’s profession is in Fashion Brand Consulting, she is developing a Sport Management Agency which will help Women Basketball players receive Sponsorship to help establish there careers as a WNBA player. Coach Johnson has decided to return into the game of basketball to help the Roadrunners to excel to the next level.
