Don Vanderbeck

Coach Vanderbeck enters his 18th season at the helm of the Roadrunner men's volleyball program and holds an impressive overall record of 346-210 in his career, while standing at 155-64 in conference play. Last season his team went undefeated in the Metro Division earning the Regular Season Champions title. Coach Vanderbeck was named 2009 Metro Division Coach of the Year for leading his team to the title. The Roadrunners earned a #3 seed in the 2009 NECVA Championship Tournament going 1-1 that weekend, before hosting the 2009 Division III Molten Championship Tournament at the Bradley Center, making the program’s first appearance in the Final Four tournament.

In 2008, Coach Vanderbeck led the Roadrunners to a #5 seed in the NECVA Tournament. After defeating the #12 seeded Gulls of Endicott College, 3-0, the Roadrunners downed NECVA rival, Stevens Institute, seeded #4, in a thrilling five-set match, 3-2. The Roadrunners dropped their final match of the season to the #1 seed, Vassar, wrapping up the season at 29-6 overall. The Roadrunners recorded a 7-2 conference record that year year.

His team won the ECAC South Championship in 2007 for the third straight year (2005, 2006, 2007), defeating Baruch, 3-0, and New Jersey City University, 3-1, respectively on April 13th. In 2003, his team was also crowned ECAC South Champions by defeating Hunter, 3-0 in the finals. He has taken his team to the NECVA Championship Tournament for nine years straight (1994-2003), and again from 2006-2009, and has led his team to two Metro Conference Championships (now called NECVA) in 1995 and 1996. Vanderbeck also took his team to the EIVA Division III Championship and was named Metro Conference Coach of the Year in ‘95 and ‘96. In 2001, he was named Ramapo College Coach of the Year, and in 2006, Coach Vanderbeck recorded his 254th win at Ramapo, breaking the old record of 253. Vanderbeck was also named Ramapo Coach of the Year for his efforts in 2006.

Coach Vanderbeck has also coached recreational volleyball with the State Line Volleyball Club in Oakland, NJ for eight years. He is a member of the AVCA, and both a player and referee registered with PAVO.

Coach Vanderbeck resides in River Edge, NJ with his wife Megan and their two sons.
