Coach Clarence Baker enters his first year with the Ramapo College men’s basketball program. A native of Teaneck, Coach Baker was a two-sport athlete in high school excelling in football and basketball.
Coach Baker was a two-year starter for the Highwayman’s basketball team at Teaneck High School. In 1998, his senior year, his team captured the Bergen County Jamboree and he was named to the All-Bergen County 1st Team for his efforts on the court. After his two-year stint at Teaneck High School, Baker attended Winchendon Prep School to improve his work both on the court and in the classroom.
In 2000, Baker attended Kankakee Junior College where his team finished 4th in the country. During his sophomore season, he was ranked ninth in the country among point guards, averaging 10.4 points and 7.5 assists per game. Baker finished his junior college career ranked fourth in school history in assists.
A member of the Mercer University Division I program, Baker was a key contributer to a complete team overhaul. The team made history when they turned a program with only six wins and 23 losses his first season, to a regular season conference championship team, finishing 23-6 in his second season with the program.
Baker spends his summers working basketball camps in his hometown of Teaneck.
