Josh Epstein enters his fifth year overall on Coach Martin’s staff, and second overseeing the Roadrunner pitchers. Epstein also coordinates the recruiting for the program.
The Roadrunner pitching staff flourished in 2011, leading the squad to a 30-14 record. The Ramapo staff finished with a team ERA of 3.44, good for 36th in the country, and down from 5.76 in 2010. Also, the Roadrunner arms gave up just a hair over 8 hits per game, good for 15th nationally. Sophomore Travis Zilg (6-3, 2.93 ERA) earned All NJAC 2nd Team and All NJCBA 2nd Team honors. Sophomore PJ Cerreto (6-2, 2.15 ERA) earned All NJCBA 3rd Team honors.
A native of Cleveland, Ohio, Epstein graduated from Ramapo in 2006 with a degree in business, concentration in marketing. He was a four-year member of the Ramapo team being named captain during his senior year. Following the 2005 season, he received honors such as team Most Improved Player, and was named to the Jewish Sports Review All America Team. He served as the President of Student Athlete Advisory Committee for the 2005-2006 academic year, and won the school's SAAC Award in May 2006.
In April of 2007, the Petach Tikva Pioneers of the Israel Baseball League selected Epstein 11th overall in the inaugural IBL draft. He spent the season playing under former Major League pitcher Ken Holtzman, and former New York Yankee coach Tony Ferrara.
Coach Epstein currently resides in Mahwah, NJ.
