Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College baseball team won their 25th game of the season as they defeated Centenary University in a seven-inning run-rule game, 13-3. The Roadrunners improve to 25-9 overall while the Cyclones now stand at 13-18 overall.
Ramapo jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning.
Zach Novakowski plated the first run of the game with an RBI ground out as
Julian Caruso scored.
Nick Pellegrino drove a single up the middle to plate
Jack Tallent before he later scored on an RBI ground out from
Eric Knapp, 3-0.
Braden Schappert drove in
Julian Schultz to give Ramapo their 4-0 lead with an RBI single to left field. In the second inning, Schultz belted a double to left-center as Pellegrino came around to score, 5-0. Tallent drove in two RBI with his double in the third inning while Novakowski plated
Brandon Tauber with a single for an 8-0 lead. Schultz legged out a triple to the right-center field gap as Tallent and Novakowski scored, 10-0. Schultz was able to race home as the relay throw was misplayed and sailed wide of third base, 11-0. Centenary scored three runs in the sixth inning on a bases loaded hit by pitch, walk and another hit by pitch. In the seventh, Knapp and Schappert each worked a bases loaded walk to drive in the 12th and 13th runs as the Roadrunners earned the 13-3 victory.
Tallent and Schultz each posted three hits in the game while Tallent drove in two RBI and scored three runs while Schultz drove in three RBI and scored two runs. Pellegrino and Maglio each collected two hits in the game.
Joe Micchio (3-0) earned the win on the mound for Ramapo with four strikeouts and three walks. Micchio scattered two hits in five innings of work.
Eldon Lempa worked the final 1.2 innings for the team with three strikeouts while he did not give up a hit.
Ramapo returns to action on Thursday afternoon at Jeff Maund Field as they host #15/18 Montclair State University at 3:30 PM.
