Box Score Auburndale, FL: The Ripon College baseball team came back to defeat Ramapo college, 16-10. The Red Hawks earn their first win of the season and now stand at 1-6 overall while the Roadrunners move to 6-2 overall.
Ramapo built an 8-2 lead after four complete innings of action before Ripon started to make their comeback mid-way through the game. Ripon added three in the fifth and one in the sixth before Ramapo posted two in the bottom half of the sixth for a 10-6 lead. The Red Hawks out scored the Roadrunners with ten runs in the final three innings of action while they held the Ramapo offense to no runs scored.
In the first inning,
Jack Tallent plated Julian Schults with an RBI double before later scoring on
Nick Pellegrino's single to left field for a 2-1 lead.
Eric Knapp earned an RBI single when he plated
Zach Novakowski before
Casey Chiola lifted a sac fly to center field which scored Pellegrino for a 4-1 lead. In the fourth,
Melvin Matias singled home
Zach Barbash before Tallent plated Matias with a single to left field, 6-2.
Julian Caruso later scored on a Novakowski sac fly to center field before Schultz scored an unearned run as Pellegrino laced a single to left field, 8-2. Ripon added four runs before Ramapo plated two more in the sixth. Knapp drove home Novakowski with an RBI single before the bases were loaded for Matias who worked a walk to force home Pellegrino.
James Kahn (1-1) took the loss on the mound for the Roadrunners; he struck out three, walked five and let up five hits and five runs (three earned) in 4.2 innings of work. Ramapo collected 15 hits as a team while they were led by Tallent, Pellegrino and Knapp who each posted three hits and two RBI.
Ramapo returns to action tomorrow when they take on Bethel University in a game at 4:00 PM.
