Camden, NJ: The Rutgers-Camden University men's soccer defeated Ramapo College this afternoon, 4-1, in the first NJAC game of the season. The Scarlet Raptors move to 4-3-2 overall, 1-0 in the NJAC while the Roadrunners now stand at 7-2-1 overall and 0-1 in the league.
Rutgers-Camden scored in the sixth minute (5:13) to open up the game as Evan Isenbarger tallied his first goal of the season for a 1-0 score. The Roadrunners hit the post in the 15th minute of play before Brandon Valeri made it 2-0 for the Scarlet Raptors with a goal in the 30th minute. Ramapo cut the lead in half with a goal in the final minute of the first half.
Francisco Perez-Rodriguez scored his first career goal off a corner kick from
Jalal Khalifeh with just 58 seconds on the clock.
In the second half, Rohan Castillo placed a header into the back of the net off a corner from Valeri to make it 3-0 (56:50) in favor of the Scarlet Raptors before Rutgers-Camden was awarded a penalty kick in the 72nd minute of play. Valeri converted to extend the lead, 4-1. The Scarlet Raptors recorded 12 shots on goal to Ramapo's three while Rutgers-Camden held a 9-3 advantage in corner kicks.
Zachary Natt posted eight saves in goal for the Roadrunners while Chris Clune tallied two in the win for Rutgers-Camden.
The Roadrunners return to action on Wednesday, October 1st when they host William Paterson University in NJAC action at 7:00 PM.
