Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College baseball team extended their win streak to four games with a 4-3 come-back win over visiting Wesleyan University. The Roadrunners move to 18-7 overall while the Cardinals now stand at 7-14.
Wesleyan scored one run in the top of the first as Jack Acker scored on a pass ball, 1-0. Ramapo got on the board in the bottom of the fifth with two runs.
Zach Barbash singled to lead off the inning before a sac bunt from
Julian Caruso moved him to second. Barbash moved to third on a pass ball and later scored on an RBI single from Dominic Ciani to tie the game, 1-1.
Zach Novakowski drove home Ciani from first base on an RBI double to right field, 2-1. The Cardinals took a 3-2 lead as they scored one run in the sixth and seventh innings before Ramapo tied the game in the bottom half of the inning.
Zack Bailey and Novakowski each singled to put runners on the corners before Novakowski stole second and
Jesse Swartout drew a walk to load the bases.
John Higgins then plated the game-tying run with an RBI sac fly to center field, 3-3. In the 8th,
Robert Klawans led off with a single before
Shaun Piotrowski put down a sac bunt. Klawans then stole third before Bailey drove a hard-hit single to right field with two outs to plate Klawans with the game-winning run, 4-3.
Ryan Lasko entered to start the ninth on the mound for the Roadrunners to close out the game as he locked up his fifth save of the season.
Bailey and Novakowski each posted two hits and one RBI in the game.
Billy Scanlon (1-0) earned the win in relief for Ramapo this afternoon as he worked the seventh & eighth innings. He struck out one, walked two, and did not give up a hit. Lasko faced three batters in the ninth and did not give up a hit to earn the save.
Ramapo returns to action tomorrow afternoon as they host NJAC rival William Paterson University at Jeff Maund Memorial Field at 3:30pm.
