RAMAPO FALLS TO THE UNIVERSITY OF MARY WASHINGTON IN NCAA SECOND ROUND GAME

Mahwah, NJ: The University of Mary Washington men's basketball team advanced in the NCAA Tournament with an 86-81 victory over host Ramapo College tonight at the Bradley Center. The Eagles move to 15-14 overall while the Roadrunners wrap up the season 21-8 overall.

The Eagles led the whole way while they took their biggest lead of the game in the first half with 3:26 to go, 34-20. In the second half, Ramapo would shrink the UMW lead to two on a dunk from Shane Rooney with 4:39 left to go. Jadon Burgess sank a three-pointer while Corbo matched him with a three-pointer of his own as the Eagles led, 67-65. The two teams traded baskets before UMW went on a 10-2 run to extend the lead, 81-71 with 34 seconds remaining. Gorman would score the final ten points for the Roadrunners as he sank a pair of free throws followed by back-to-back three-pointers and a jumper to end the game.  

Gorman poured in 25 points including 17 in the second half. He wrapped up his Ramapo career with 1,696 points which is third all-time in program history. Gorman also led the team with nine boards and five assists tonight. Anthony Corbo added 16 points including a team high four three-pointers while Rooney added ten points and eight rebounds. Tim Linton posted 18 points and finished 7-10 from the floor. The team shot 50% from the field (30-59), 38% from the three-point line (8-21) and 86% (13-15) from the free throw line.

Five Eagles scored in double figures as they were led by Kye Robinson who tallied 21 points while he pulled down nine rebounds. Jay Randall posted 18 points and eight rebounds while Zack Blue posted 15 points including four three-pointers. The University of Mary Washington advances to the 'Sweet 16' next weekend at a site yet to be determined. The team shot 54% (29-53) from the field, 37% (10-27) from the three-point line and 75% (18-24) from the free throw line.
