Auburndale, FL: The Ramapo College baseball team defeated Ripon College today, 7-1 in their first game at RussMatt Baseball Invitational. The Roadrunners move to 6-2 overall while Red Hawks drop to 2-3 on the year.

Ripon got on the board in the bottom of the third inning with one run. Owen Gerhardt walked to lead off the third before stealing second base. Following a strikeout from Ramapo starting pitcher
Nick Danbrowney, Gerhardt stole third and later scored on a two-out single from Brock Warren.

The Roadrunners tied the game in the top of the sixth, 1-1. Dominic Ciani led off with a double before moving to third on a fly-out from
Jack Tallent.
Zach Novakowski then laced a double to plate Ciani to tie the game up at one. Ramapo broke the game open in the top of the 8th with six runs on four hits.

Will Egner with an RBI single to break the 1-1 tie before
Zach Novakowski was hit by a pitch to load the bases with no outs.
Zack Bailey plated Ciani with a sac fly before
John Higgins drove in Tallent with an RBI single to left, 4-1.
Jesse Swartout connected a three-run home run to extend the score, 7-1.

Nick Danbrowney (2-1) struck out ten, walked two and scattered four hits over seven innings of work for the Roadrunners.
Ryan Lasko pitched the final two innings as he struck out two and did not surrender a hit or run. At the plate, Tallent and Ciani each posted two hits while Swartout led the way with three RBI.

Ramapo returns to action on Sunday, March 16th when they take on Coe College in a double header scheduled for 2:00pm.Â
