BASEBALL SWEEPS FARMINGDALE STATE

Farmingdale, NY:  The Ramapo College baseball team took two games from host Farmingdale State College this afternoon with an 8-3 win in game one and a 15-10 seven-inning win in game two. The Roadrunners move to 2-1 overall while the Rams stand at 0-2 overall.

James Pazdera (1-0) started on the mound for the Roadrunners where he worked the first six innings with eight strikeouts and surrendering only two hits and no runs. Pazdera's fifth strikeout of the game was his 100th career as a Roadrunner. Dominick Ciani worked a three-inning save where he struck out four and let up just three hits and three earned runs. Ramapo got on the board in the third inning when Matt Lalomia was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded which forced home Weston Baronian. In the fifth, John Higgins drove in Zack Bailey with an RBI double before Bailey laced a single up the middle in the seventh to plate Jack Tallent for a 3-0 score. Just one batter later, Higgins would plate Zach Novakowski with a sac fly before Bailey scored on a wild pitch,5-0. In the eighth inning, Tallent drove home Eric Knapp with an RBI double before Jesse Swartout plated Robert Klawans and M. Lalomia with a two-RBI double in the ninth. The Rams scored one run in the eighth and two runs in the ninth.

Jack Tallent led the Roadrunners at the plate as he finished 4-5 with one run scored and one RBI while Baronian finished 3-4 with one run scored.

In game two, Nick Danbrowney earned the win in his first start of the season as he struck out seven, walked two and let up just two hits over five innings pitched. The Roadrunners opened a big 9-0 lead through the top of the sixth before the Rams got on the board in the bottom of the sixth. In the first inning, Lalomia singled home Tallent for the game's first run before Swartout drove in Lalomia and Higgins with an RBI single up the middle, 3-0. Novakowski scored in the second when Bailey laced a double to center field before Ciani and Swartout scored on an infield error by the Rams in the third, 6-0. Ciani reached on a single earlier in the inning, which was his 100th career hit. Baronian blasted a double to right-center in the fifth to plate Klawans to push the score 7-0. In the sixth, Higgins would score on an error and Novakowski tallied the teams ninth run on an RBI fielder's choice, 9-0.

The Rams would shrink the Roadrunner lead with seven runs in the bottom of the sixth before Ramapo answered with six runs of their own. Knapp scored on a wild pitch before Brandon Tauber scored on an RBI single from Novakowski. Higgins drove in Novakowski with an RBI double to right field while Shawn Piotrowski cleared the bases with a big double to right-center field. Klawans, Lalomia and Higgins all scored on Piotrowski's double for a 15-7 lead. The Rams plated their three final runs of the game in the bottom of the seventh as Ramapo came away with the 15-10 road victory.

The Roadrunners pounded out 14 hits in game two including four doubles and one triple. Novakowski led the way at the plate finishing 3-4 with three runs scored and one RBI. Piotrowski led the team with three RBI while Swartout added two RBI finishing 2-3 with one run scored.

The Roadrunners return to action March 5th when they travel to St. Joseph's University Long Island for a non-conference game at 3:30 PM.
