CORBO LEADS RAMAPO IN KEY NJAC VICTORY OVER MSU

Mahwah, NJ:  The Ramapo College men's basketball team won a key NJAC game tonight over Montclair State University, 80-66. The Roadrunners improve to 15-6 overall and 9-5 in the NJAC while the Red Hawks drop to 15-6 overall and 10-4 in the league.
 
Ramapo held a three-point lead following a three-pointer from MSU before the Roadrunners went on an 8-0 run. The run was sparked with a jumper from Anthony Corbo and capped off with a jumper from Jordan Myers, 24-13. A 16-0 run from MSU would give the Red Hawks a 26-24 lead with less than nine to play in the first. Tim Linton stopped the run with a jumper before Ahmad Robertson sank a three-pointer for the Red Hawks going up three, 29-26. Myers sparked an 11-0 run with a jumper while Tyrell Murchison added a three-pointer to take a two-point lead. Enoch Hutchison then scored a jumper and a three-pointer while Elijah Barlow finished 1-2 from the free throw line as Ramapo led, 37-29, with 5:29 on the clock. The Red Hawks shrunk the Ramapo lead to three on three different points during the final five minutes yet the Roadrunners had a comeback every time. Bladen would sink back-to-back three-pointers to wrap up the first half as Ramapo went into the locker room up 47-39.
 
In the second half, Ramapo held MSU to 28 points while the Roadrunners held a double-digit lead the majority of the rest of the game. Their biggest lead came following a jumper from Barlow to give Ramapo a 67-50 lead with just over 11 minutes left in the game. The Red Hawks cut the lead to nine with 3:25 on the clock with a three-pointer from Myles Primas. Ramapo answered with a pair of free throws from Corbo and a three-pointer from Barlow to stretch the lead back to 14 with 2:34 remaining. In the final two minutes of action, Corbo would finish 3-4 from the free throw line while Mike Jackson scored the final points for MSU from beyond the three-point line as the Roadrunners won, 80-66.
 
The Roadrunners were led by Corbo who posted a season high of 17 points while he added 11 rebounds. Myers tallied 18 points, three rebounds, five assists and a blocked shot while Bladen added 16 points including four made three-pointers, five rebounds, four steals and a season high six assists. Barlow contributed with nine points, three assists and one steal. Shane Rooney posted six rebounds, six points and three assists while Hutchinson added five points in five minutes of action including a key three-pointer. Ramapo shot 61% (30-49) from the field, 61% (8-13) from the three-point line and 66% (12-18) from the free throw line. Ramapo scored 44 points in the paint while they added 21 points off of Red Hawk turnovers.
 
Jacob Morales scored 21 points for Montclair while he added six rebounds and two steals. Mike Jackson added 12 points – all from beyond the three-point line while Primas added nine points. The Red Hawks shot 36% (25-68) from the field, 28% (10-35) from the three-point line and 85% (6-7) from the free throw line.
 
Ramapo returns to action on Saturday, Feb. 8th when they host Rowan University in a NJAC game at 1pm.
