Mahwah, NJ: The Kean University baseball team earned a 5-2 NJAC road win over Ramapo College today at Jeff Maund Field. With the win the Cougars improve to 22-11 overall and 8-4 in the NJAC while the Roadrunners now stand at 20-11 and 8-4 in the league.
The Cougars struck first in the game with two runs in the third inning before they added one in the fourth, sixth and seventh. JT Abrusci plated the first run with an RBI sac fly before the second run came home following a Ramapo error. In the fourth, Dominic Masino poked a single to center field to pick up the RBI and a 3-0 lead. Ramapo came within one in the fifth as they plated two runs.
Jesse Swartout led off with a single and moved to third on a one out single from
Christian Alonso to put runners on the corners. Swartout crossed home plate on a pass ball before
Zack Bailey drove in Alonso with a hard hit single to the left side of the infield. In the sixth, Nick Sellari drove in the fourth run for the Cougars with an RBI groundout while Tyler Stone lifted a sac fly in the seventh to plate Kyle Adorno for the 5-2 lead.
Gianni Marano (3-3) worked a complete game for Kean on the mound. Marano struck out four, walked two and surrendered just seven hits.
Nick Danbrowney (3-3) took the loss on the mound for the Roadrunners. He struck out four, walked four and surrendered four runs (three earned) in six complete innings of work.
Billy Scanlon struck out two, walked one in the final three innings of work as he surrendered just two hits and one run.
Ramapo returns to action on Saturday, April 20th when they travel to Rutgers-Camden University for a pair of NJAC games starting at 11:30 AM.
