Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College baseball team earned a non-conference victory over Vermont State University Castleton, 16-6. The Roadrunners win their second straight game and improve to 10-7 overall while the Spartans move to 2-15 on the year.
Castleton scored two in the top of the first before Ramapo plated four runs in the bottom of the inning. The bottom of the first was highlighted with a two RBI double from
Will Egner which gave Ramapo a 4-2 lead. Castleton scored two more in the second to tie the game 4-4 before
Zach Novakowski lifted a sac fly which plated
Christian Alonso for a 5-4 lead. In the third inning,
John Higgins reached on an error before stealing second and third base on back-to-back pitches.
Jack Tallent drove him in with an RBI groundout, 6-4. Castleton scored one in the sixth before the Roadrunners added three to their lead for a 9-5 score.

TJ Roman and
Tyler Guadagno each recorded RBIs in the inning. After Castleton scored their final run in the top of the eighth, Ramapo added seven runs in the bottom half of the inning.
Dominick Ciani finished 3-5 with three runs scored and two RBI while Guadagno, Novakowski, Tallent, Egner and Swartout all collected two hits each. Swartout and Egner each finished 2-4 with two runs scored and three RBI.
Ryan Lasko (1-0) earned the win in relief with three innings pitched including three strikeouts, no walks while surrendering just two hits and one run.
Ramapo returns to action on Saturday, March 30th when they host NJAC rival the College of New Jersey for a doubleheader beginning at 11:30 AM.
