Auburndale, FL: The Ramapo College baseball team moved to 5-4 overall with a doubleheader sweep over SUNY Cobleskill, 6-5 in game one and 9-1 in game two.
Game 1:
Nick Danbrowney earned his first win of the season with a complete game as he struck out nine, walked just one. He surrendered ten hits in seven innings pitched and five runs scored. Ramapo saw themselves down one run heading into the top of the second before they tied the game up with a run of their own.
Matt Lalomia scored on a wild pitch for a 1-1 tie before
Tyler Guadagno scored in the third inning on an infield error for a 2-1 lead.
Zack Bailey then drove in
Jack Tallent with a double for a two run lead, 3-1. Cobleskill scored one run in the third and three in the fourth to take a 5-3 lead.
John Higgins singled home Navakowski in the fifth before Novakowski laced a double to plate Guadagno to tie the game in the fifth, 5-5.
Jesse Swartout plated the eventual game-winning run in the seventh with an RBI single to plate Lalomia, 6-5.
Game 2
Ramapo scored five early runs in game two with three in the first and two in the second for a 5-0 lead. In the first, Higgins drove home Tallent with an RBI single before Klawans drove in Higgins and Bailey with a two-RBI double to left, 3-0. In the second, Guadagno belted a solo home run over the left field wall before Bailey singled home Tallent with a hard hit single to left field, 5-0. Cobelskill plated one run in the third before Higgins drove in two runs with a double to extend the lead, 7-1. In the fifth inning, Guadagno drew a bases loaded walk as Swartout came around to score. In the sixth, Ramapo got the final run of the game as
Will Egner scored on a wild pitch for a 9-1 lead.
James Pazdera (2-0) worked five complete innings to earn the win on the mound for Ramapo. He struck out five, walked three and surrendered just three hits and one run.
Wesley Pierorazio and
Will Kennedy each worked one inning of relief for Ramapo. They did not give up a hit or a run in the sixth and seventh innings while each of them recorded two strikeouts.
Ramapo returns to action tomorrow afternoon as they take on Washington & Jefferson College at 11:00 AM at Lake Myrtle Field #5.
