Mahwah, NJ: The College of New Jersey men's basketball team earned a first-round win in the NJAC Tournament today over Ramapo College, 81-74. The Lions improve to 18-8 overall while the Roadrunners move to 17-9 overall.
TCNJ advances to play in the NJAC Tournament semifinal on Wednesday, Feb. 21st against #1 Rowan University at 7:00 PM. Nick Koch sank a three-pointer for TCNJ to open the game and the Lions never gave up the lead as Koch led the team with 29 points. Koch finished 11-17 from the field, 3-3 from the three-point line and 4-6 from the free throw line. David Alexandre tallied 15 points, 12 rebounds and two steals while James Beckwith added 14 points including three three-pointers. Matthew Soloman added a double double with ten points and ten rebounds. The Lions shot 52% (28-53) from the floor, 47% (9-19) from the three-point line and 72% (16-22) from the free throw line. The team scored 32 points from the paint and 21 points off the bench.
Ramapo was led by
Peter Gorman who recorded 29 points as he finished 11-11 from the free throw line and recorded four three-pointers and six assists.
Jordan Myers and
Anthony Corbo each collected 11 points. Corbo and Shane Ronney led the way with eight rebounds each while Rooney added nine points. The team shot 41% (26-63) from the field, 37% (9-24) from the three-point line and 72% (13-18) from the free throw line. Ramapo tallied 28 points in the paint and scored 11 points off TCNJ turnovers.
