Wenham, MA: The Ramapo College men's soccer team (0-0-1) and Gordon College (0-0-1) opened the 2023 season tonight with a 1-1 draw.
The Roadrunners got on the board in the first when
Jack Hosmer hit the back of the net for his first goal of the season just 24 minutes into the game. Gordon held a slight 7-6 advantage in shots in the first half while each team had three on frame. Each keeper made three stops in the first half as Ramapo went into halftime up, 1-0.
Late in the second half (82:58), Benny Simpson would score his first goal of the year off an assist from George Coogan IV, to tie the game 1-1. Neither team would score in the final seven minutes of action ending the game in a draw. For the game, Ramapo held a 6-5 lead in shots on goal while they dominated in earning 11 corner kicks to Gordon's three.
Nikolai Matthews posted four saves in the game for the Roadrunners while Gunnar Lucuk collected five for the Scots.
Ramapo returns to action on Sunday, September 3rd when they travel to Endicott College for a non-conference game at 2pm.
