Ewing, NJ: The Ramapo College baseball team split the final regular season NJAC games of the season on the road at the College of New Jersey. The Roadrunners won game one, 8-6, before the Lions earned the win in game two, 5-1. The Roadrunners now stand at 21-17, 8-10 in the NJAC while the Lions now stand at 19-21, 9-9 in the conference.
Game 1
The Roadrunners took a three run lead in the top of the third inning before TCN tied the game with three runs in the bottom of the fourth. In the seventh, the Roadrunners took a 5-3 lead with a two-run homerun from
Brian Baranok. The Lions tied the game once again in the bottom half of the inning with a two-run home run of their own, 5-5. In the top of the eighth,
Jason Cuba singled home
Christian Alonso with a bunt single before
Brandon Shine drove in two with a hard hit single up the middle for an 8-5 lead. TCNJ got one back in the bottom of the eighth with an unearned run before Ramapo relief pitcher William Paoli induced back-to-back ground ball outs to get out of the inning. Paoli and the Ramapo defense would strand a TCNJ runner on the bases in the ninth to secure the 8-6 NJAC victory.
James Pazdera (2-2) earned the win in relief for the Roadrunners as he struck out two and surrendered two hits and two runs in 1.1 innings of work with no walks.
Will Paoli collected his sixth save of the season as he worked the 8th and 9th innings. Paoli struck out two, walked one and let up just one hit. Paoli now has 10 saves in his career which is tied for second all-time at Ramapo.
Brian Baranok led the way at the plate finishing 4-5 with three RBI and two extra base hits including a double and a home run. Guadagno, Lalomia and Shine each collected two hits in the game.
Game 2
Ramapo scored their lone run in the top of the first inning when
Justin Garthaffner singled home Tyler Guadango with an RBI single, 1-0. TCNJ would take the lead with two runs in the bottom of the inning. A sac fly brought home the game-tying run before a bases loaded walk forced home the second, 2-1. The Lions added one run in the fifth and two in the eighth to extend their lead, 5-1. The Roadrunners would load the bases in the top of the ninth before Joe Ferreri earned his first save of the season as he induced an infield fly out to end the threat and hold onto the four run lead. Jack Marchese (2-0) earned the win on the mound for the Lions as he scattered seven hits and let up three walks and one run.
Ramapo recorded seven hits in the game as Guadagno finished 2-4 with one run scored.
Jack Martin (2-4) suffered the loss as he struck out four, walked three and let up three runs and seven hits in six innings of work.
