RYGIEL WALK-OFF HOME RUN BLAST TAKES DOWN #1 ROWAN, 2-1

Glassboro, NJ:  Katie Rygiel blasted at walk-off two run home run in the bottom of the seventh to propel the #3 seeded Ramapo College softball team over #1 seeded Rowan University, 2-1. The Roadrunners (32-11-1) advance to the championship game tomorrow at 11am against #2 seeded TCNJ.

Rowan pushed a run across in the top of the second inning when they worked a bases loaded walk, 1-0. Roadrunner starting pitcher, Marissa DiPaolo, and the defense kept the Profs off the scoreboard the rest of the game to set up the walk-off moment for Ramapo in the bottom of the seventh. Multiple diving catches by Anna Messina in right field and a 6-3 double play in the top of the sixth; as Rygiel fielded, stepped on second and fired to Avery Bartolomeo at first base to end the inning.

In the bottom of the seventh, Messina drew a five pitch walk before Nicole Cerasi put down a sac bunt to move Cerasi to second. With one out, Rygiel stepped to the plate and took the first pitch she saw over the left field fence to walk it off for the Roadrunners, 2-1.

Rygiel finished the game 2-3 with two RBI and one run scored while Alexis Corra also finished 2-3 at the plate. DiPaolo (11-3) fired a complete game two-hitter to earn the win in the circle for the Roadrunners.

Ramapo and TCNJ will battle for the NJAC Tournament Championship tomorrow at 11am in Glassboro. The Roadrunners will need to win two games to secure the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
