Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College baseball team won their home opener this afternoon over Western Connecticut State University, 12-3. The Roadrunners move to 9-5 overall while the Wolves now stand at 3-14 overall.
Ramapo scored four runs in the bottom of the fourth and broke open the game in the third with six runs. The Roadrunners who belted out 16 hits in the game, added single runs in the seventh and eighth. The Roadrunners got on the board with a run from
Christian Alonso as he scored on
Matt Lalomia's RBI single.
Tyler Guadagno later scored on an error before
Matt Carovillano blasted a two-run home run over the left-center field wall for a 4-0 lead. The six-run third inning was highlighted by a 2-RBI double from
Justin Garthaffner as
Brian Baranok and
Matt Lalomia each scored. In the seventh,
Joseph Marte plated Chris Ehlers with an infield single before
Will Egner scored the final run for the Roadrunners in the eighth on a wild pitch, 12-3.
Nick Danbrowney (4-1) earned the win on the mound for the Roadrunners. He struck out three, walked three and scattered two hits in four innings of work.
Troy Karaty worked the fifth and sixth innings with three strikeouts in relief before
Will Kennedy, Sebastian Sphan and
James Garthaffner all pitched one inning each as Kennedy and Ja. Garthaffner each struck out two in their relief appearances. Guadagno, Baranok, Lalomia, Egner and
Marc Porpora each collected two hits in the game for the Roadrunners.
Ramapo returns to action on Friday, March 24th when they host Swarthmore College at 3:30pm.
