Cheickna Traore has been named the Men's Indoor Track & Field G. Larry James Most Outstanding Athlete of the Year which highlights the Roadrunner's selections on the 2022-2023 NJAC All-Conference team. All NJAC special awards were determined by a vote of the league's head coaches. The all-conference honors were based on performances at the NJAC Championships on February 20th.
This is the second straight season Traore has been honored with this major award during the indoor season He defended his titles from a year ago in the 60m and 200m events and posted a NJAC Championship Meet Record time of 21.35 seconds in the 200m dash. Traore's winning time in the 60m race (6.81 seconds) was one one-hundredths of a second off his own NJAC Championship record time. He currently holds the 3rd fastest time in NCAA DIII (21.27 seconds) in the 200m dash and 5th fastest time in the 60m dash (6.76 seconds) while both are #1 in the NCAA Metro Region this season. For his efforts on the track in both individual events, Traore was also named NJAC First Team All-Conference.
The 4x400m relay team made up of
Terrell Lockett, Traore,
Max Dubac, and
Kenyon Fenderson, earned NJAC Second Team All-Conference. The team finished as NJAC Runner-Up in the event with a season's best time of 3:21.49. The time is currently 4th in the NCAA Metro Region this season.
The Distance Medley Relay Team made up of
Anthony Bertollo,
Saim Syed,
George Losche, and
Michael Mohr also earned NJAC Second Team All-Conference. The squad posted a season's best time of 10:50.21 as they finished as NJAC Runner-Up. The time is currently #12 in the NCAA Metro Region this season.
