Staten Island, NY: The Ramapo College men's indoor track & field team finished 4th overall at the 2023 NJAC Indoor Track & Field Championships. The meet was hosted by Farmingdale State as the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex. The Roadrunners recorded 61 team points in the meet.
Cheickna Traore defended his 60-meter and 200-meter indoor titles tonight. Traore won his second NJAC Indoor 60-meter title when he clocked in at 6.81 seconds, just one one-hundredths of a second off his own NJAC Championship record time.
Kenyon Fenderson placed 8th overall in the same event with a time of 7.08 seconds. Traore defended his 200-meter dash crown with a meet record time of 21.35 seconds. Fenderson would also place 9th in the 400-meter dash with a time of 51.82 seconds.
Jason Mercado and
Ian McCauley placed 11th (15:38.05) and 13th (15:57.33) respectively in the 5K. In the men's mile,
Ryan Pena placed 6th overall in 4:19.98 while
Anthony Bertollo placed in the top ten with a time of 4:33.78 as he finished 9th overall.
Max Dubac grabbed a fifth place finish in the 800-meter run in 1:57.33 while
Saim Syed placed 7th overall in 2:00.49. Mercado placed 10th in the 3k race when he crossed the finish line in 9:07.23. The Distance Medley Relay team, made up of
Anthony Bertollo, Syed,
George Losche and
Michael Mohr grabbed a second place finish as they recorded a time of 10:50.21. The 4x400-meter relay team also placed second overall in 3:21.49, the squad was made up of
Terrell Lockettt, Traore, Dubac and Fenderson.
In the field,
Tanner Christie posted a personal best mark in the shot put with a mark of 14.77-meters. His mark is 4th best in program history.
Nicolo Caminiti placed 10th in the high jump when he cleared 1.76-meters.
Jason Potterton grabbed a top ten finish in the triple jump finishing in 7th place overall with a mark of 12.37-meters.
Zach Hartung also grabbed a top ten finish in the shot put, finishing in 8th place with a mark of 13.38-meters. In the weight throw,
Sebastian Pross and Braden Holm grabbed the 6th (14.43-meters) and 7th (13.44-meters) places respectively.
The Roadrunners who qualified for the All-Atlantic Region Championships will compete on March 3rd and March 4th at the NY Armory.
