Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College men's swim team earned a NJAC victory over William Paterson University, 145-36, tonight at the Adele and Reuben Thomas Pool. The Roadrunners move to 2-4 overall and 1-3 in the NJAC while the Pioneers now stand at 10-4 overall and 0-2 in the conference.
The 400-yard medley relay team posted a time of 3:55.87 for a first place finish. The team was made up of
Michael Sooy,
Tyler Moore,
Alessandro Alvarez and
Joe Swede. The 400-yard freestyle relay A-team finished in first with a combined time of 3:30.91. The A-team was made up of G. Alvarez, Sooy, McDevitt and A. Alvarez. The B-team placed second in 3:39.97, the team was made up of Swede,
Ryan Gallacher, Guevara and Moore.
In the 200-yard freestyle,
Caleb Baron and Jeff Horn finished 1-2 with times of 1:54.18 and 1:56.35 respectively.
Benjamin Gomez won the 50-yard freestyle in 23.84 seconds while
Samuel De Leon (2:15.58),
Emile Eeckhout (2:19.52) and
AJ Guevara (2:20.61) went 1-2-3 in the 200-yard IM.
Giovanni Alvarez and
Michael Sooy went 1-2 in the 200-yard butterfly when they clocked in at 2:10.59 and 2:14.73 respectively. A. Alvarez and Gomez went 1-2 in the 100-yard freestyle with times of 51.27 seconds and 55.98 seconds. De Leon grabbed another first place finish, this time in the 200-yard backstroke in 2:10.45 while Swede placed third in 2:21.63. Horn won the 500-yard freestyle when he touched the wall in 5:39.01 while
Brendan McDevitt placed second in 5:39.63. Moore (2:25.58), Baron (2:37.34) and
Josh Yee (2:44.05) grabbed the top three spots in the 200-yard breaststroke.
The Roadrunners return to action tomorrow afternoon in their final home meet of the season. They will host Widener University in a non-conference meet beginning at 2pm. The Roadrunners will honor the senior class prior to the meet.
