TCNJ MEN'S BASKETBALL DEFEATS RAMAPO IN NJAC ACTION

Mahwah, NJ:  The College of New Jersey men's basketball team defeated Ramapo College, 79-65, today in NJAC action at the Bradley Center. The Lions, who extended their win streak to three, move to 5-11 overall and 4-5 in the NJAC. The Roadrunners now stand at 7-9 overall and 3-6 in the conference.
 
Ramapo came back to tie the game four times in the first ten minutes of action, the final time on a Jordan Myers jumper, 14-14, with 9:19 on the clock. TCNJ then took a two point lead on a jumper from Matthew Solomon, a lead they would not relinquish the remainder of the game. The Lions took an eleven point lead with a made basket from Nick Koch before Peter Gorman sank a three-pointer with 3:14 on the clock, 21-29. TCNJ closed the first half on a 10-6 run to take a 39-27 lead into the locker room at halftime.
 
In the second half, Myers connected on two trips to the free throw line to shrink the TCNJ lead to just eight, 31-38 in the first minute of action before TCNJ went up ten on a jumper from Solomon. The Lions would hold a double digit lead the remainder of the game as they stretched it to twenty for the first time with 15:45 on the clock, 53-33. TCNJ would hold a twenty point lead eight more times during the second half enroute to their, 79-65, NJAC road win.
 
Four Lion starters scored in double figures in the game as they were led by Anthony DiCaro with 14 points including three made three-pointers while Solomon added 13 points and five rebounds. Danny Bodine and Pat Higgins each contributed with ten points. Jason Larranaga came off the bench for TCNJ to score ten points and five rebounds. The Lions shot 53% (31-58) from the floor in the game, 36% (9-25) from the three-point line and 80% (8-10) from the free throw line.
 
Peter Gorman led the Roadrunners with 21 points while dished out a team high five assists. Shane Rooney posted 19 points, six rebounds and one steal while Myers added 15 points and ten rebounds for his third double double of the season and second in game in a row. The Roadrunners shot 42% (19-45) from the floor in the game, 14% (1-7) from the three-point line and 92% (26-28) from the free throw line.
 
The Roadrunners return to action on Wednesday, January 18th when they travel to Rutgers-Newark University for a NJAC game at 8pm.
