Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College men's soccer team dropped a tough game today to the Cougars of Misericordia, 2-3 at the Athletic Center. With the loss the Roadrunners fall to 0-2 to start the year while Misericordia improves to 2-0.
After a scoreless first half, where Ramapo led in shots, 6-2, the Roadrunners found themselves down two goals to none with goals from Eric Goldberg (65:41) and Justin Yarabinee (71:33).
Just over seven minutes later,
Osbin Mendez got Ramapo on the board off an assist from
Damian Zurawski to close the gap, 1-2.
Juan Uribe would tie the game under a minute later off a cross from
Thiago Stallhbaum at 79:24. But Drew Weaver would give the Cougars the advantage and the eventual game winner with under eight to play as he took a pass from Trent Wall.
Ramapo did not sit back as they again outshot the Cougars, 8-6 and had a final opportunity with seconds on the clock but it fell just wide.
Nikolai Matthews made one save in the net for Ramapo while Andrew Daubenspeck made six for the Cougars.
The Roadrunners would lead in shots for the game at 14-8 while Misericordia had a slight advantage in corners at 4-2.
The Roadrunners return to action on Wednesday, September 7
th when they travel to Moravian for a 4:00pm kick-off.
