TRAORE, FIUMEFREDDO CROWNED NJAC TRACK & FIELD CHAMPIONS

Ewing, NJ:  The Ramapo College men's outdoor track and field team finished 4th overall at the 2022 Outdoor Track & Field Championships this afternoon hosted by TCNJ. The Roadrunners recorded 75.5 points in the meet.
 
Cheickna Traore is a two-time NJAC Champion today after winning the 100-meter and 200-meter races. He clocked in at 10.62 seconds in the 100-meter dash while his time in the 200-meter dash is a new school record time of 20.96 seconds, a new NJAC Championship meet record and #4 in NCAA Division III this season. The NCAA Championships accept the top 22 individual times. His 100-meter time in the prelims lowers his own school record as he crossed the finishline in 10.52 seconds. 
 
Steven Fiumefreddo defended his NJAC Outdoor Title in the 5k with a winning time of 14:53.09, which is also second all-time at Ramapo. Alec Mabie posted a personal best in the 110-hurdles of 15.17 seconds as he placed second overall. His time is 7th all-time at Ramapo. Matt Cortez placed 2nd overall in the 800-meter race with a time of 1:56.09. In the 1,500-meter race, Chris Andersen placed 3rd overall with a time of 3:56.89, which lowers his outdoor personal best time and is fourth all-time at Ramapo. Jason Mercado posted a time of 15:37.66 in the 5k race for an 8th place finish while Mohamed Nidaazzi clocked in at 15:45.19 in 9th place. Max Dubac finished in 5th place in the 400-meter hurdles in 55.60 seconds while he set a personal best in the prelims in 54.97 seconds yesterday afternoon, which is third all-time at Ramapo.
 
The 4x400-meter relay team finished in second place with a time of 3:17.22. The team was made up of Kenyon Fenderson, Traore, Dubac and Cortez. In the hammer throw, Sebastian Pross finished 5th overall with a mark of 47.27-meters. Connor Belica placed 7th in the high jump with a mark of 1.70-meters. Jason Potterton also placed 7th in the triple jump with a mark of 12.97-meters which lowers his own personal best mark and is 7th all-time at Ramapo.
 
The Roadrunners return to action on Monday, May 16th when they travel to the Swarthmore Last Chance at Widener University. The meet is set to begin at 4pm.
