New York, NY:  The Ramapo College men's track and field team competed at the METs Outdoor Championships this afternoon. The meet was held at Ichan Stadium on Randall's Island.
 
Cheickna Traore broke his own outdoor school record in the 400-meter dash when he crossed the finish line with #1 fastest time NCAA DIII this season, 47.72 seconds. In the 200-meter dash, he posted a time of 21.53 seconds and placed 3rd overall. He broke current assistant coach and former Roadrunner, Ackeme Brown's record (21.57 seconds) which he set during the 2012 season. Traore's 200-meter time is the 8th fastest across NCAA DIII this season.
 
Jason Mercado placed 9th overall in the 5k race in 15:51.62 while Eduardo Cermeno posted a time of 16:16.21 for an 11th place finish. Alec Mabie placed 5th overall in the 110-meter hurdles in 15.87 seconds. In the 400-meter hurdles, Mabie grabbed a time of 58.08 seconds where he placed 5th and Christian Santiago placed 6th overall in 58.26 seconds. In the 1,500-meter race, Steven Fiumefreddo posted a time of 4:03.80 and placed 11th overall. In the 800-meter race, Matt Cortez placed 12th overall in 1:58.44, Max Dubac finished in 16th place in 1:59.17 while Fiumefreddo finisheed in 2:00.23 and Michael Mohr clocked in at 2:05.75. 

The 4x400-meter relay team placed 4th overall when they posted a time of 3:32.73. The team was made up of Dubac, Kenyon Fenderson, Cortez and Traore. In the field, Jason Potterton posted a mark of 12.93-meters in the triple jump and placed 7th overall.
 
Ramapo returns to action on Friday, April 15th when they will compete at either the Larry Ellis Invitational hosted by Princeton University or the Greyhound Invitational hosted by Moravian College.
