BASEBALL SPLITS AT RUTGERS-CAMDEN

Camden, NJ:  The Ramapo College baseball team split a NJAC double header today at Rutgers University-Camden. The Roadrunners (9-10-1, 2-2 NJAC) took game one, 8-3, while the Scarlet Raptors (14-10, 2-3 NJAC) posted a 3-2 win in game two.
 
Game One
Ramapo starting pitcher Dan Russo (3-0) worked six complete innings as he struck out five and scattered seven hits in the victory. Matt Ivanicki kept the Scarlet Raptors scoreless to earn the three-inning save. He struck out two and surrendered just one hit.
 
Rutgers-Camden got on the board with one run in the bottom of the first inning before Ramapo came back with one run in the fourth and three in the fifth for a 4-1 lead. Sean Donaghue led off the fourth with a single and later scored on Harold Calero's sac fly to tie the game 1-1. Ramapo would load the bases in the top of the fifth with three straight singles before Brian Baranok laced an RBI single to right field, plating Robert Klawans for the 2-1 lead. Donaghue then ripped a single to left field which allowed two runs to score, 4-1.
 
The Scarlet Raptors would come within one in the bottom half of the inning with two runs, 3-4. In the seventh, Ramapo added two runs to their lead. Matt Lalomia plated Dominick Ciani with an RBI sac fly before Baranok scored on a wild pitch later in the inning, 6-3. The Roadrunners extended their lead with two runs in the ninth for an 8-3 score. Baranock reached on an error, moved to second on Donaghue's walk before he later stole third base; the throw from the Scarlet Raptors sailed into left field allowing Baranock to score. Will Egner posted an RBI double allowing Donaghue to score.
 
Ciani, Baranock, Donaghue, Lalomia and Enger all posted two hits in the game for the Roadrunners.

Game Two
Rutgers-Camden posted two runs in the bottom of the fourth for a 2-0 lead before Ramapo came back with two in the top of the sixth to tie the game. Baranok led off the sixth with a double before he moved to third on a wild pitch. Donaghue then ripped a double to bring home Baranok. Donaghue moved up one base on a wild pitch before Lalomia posted an RBI double of his own to tie the game, 2-2.
 
The game remained tied until the bottom of the eighth when Rutgers-Camden posted the eventual game-winning run. Jake Guglielmi posted an RBI single which plated Auggie Uzdanovics for the 3-2 lead. The Scarlet Raptors were able to hold Ramapo in the top of the ninth to hold onto the one-run victory.
 
DJ McGuinness (1-1) took the loss on the mound in relief for the Roadrunners. He worked the seventh and eighth innings, surrendering five hits and one run. Troy Karaty started the game for Ramapo working the first six innings. He struck out two, scattered five hits and let up two runs (none earned).
 
Ramapo returns to action tomorrow on the road at Montclair State University where they will play a conference double header. This is a combined makeup date from the Thursday-Friday home-and-home series; the Roadrunners will be home game one and the Red Hawks will be home game two. The first game is slated to start at 11:30am.
