Bethlehem, PA: The Ramapo College men's outdoor track and field team competed at two meets this afternoon. The Roadrunners traveled to Moravian College for the Greyhound Invitational or the Larry Ellis Invitational at Princeton University.
On night one of the Larry Ellis Invitational,
Steven Fiumefreddo won the 10k race and set the new school record when he crossed the finish line in 30:47.53. Fiumefreddo, who was the only NCAA DIII runner in the race, broke a record set in 1989 by Andrew Latincsics (31:11). Latincsics was inducted in the Ramapo Athletics Hall of Fame in 2006.
Chris Andersen competed in the 1,500-meter race and clocked in at 4:00.02. In the hammer throw,
Sebastian Pross posted a mark of 42.94-meters
Greyhound Invitational
Matt Cortez won the 800-meter race with a personal best time of 1:56.74. Cortez's time is 8th all-time at Ramapo.
Kenyon Fenderson qualified for the finals of the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.26 seconds in the prelims. He finished 3rd overall in the finals with a personal best time of 10.84 seconds, which is 4th all-time at Ramapo. He clocked in with a personal best time of 22.35 seconds in the 200-meter dash for a 5th place finish. Both times qualify him for the AARTFC and ECAC Championships later this season.
Dillon Karlson also qualified for the ECAC Championships in the 200-meter dash when he placed 9th overall in 23.07 seconds.
In the 5k race, Ramapo had two runners finish in the top ten as
Mohamed Nidaazzi placed 2nd overall and
Jason Mercado placed 7th overall. Nidaazzi posted a personal best time of 15:30.93 while Mercado clocked in at 15:45.69. In the 110-meter hurdles,
Justin Martone crossed the finish line with a personal best time of 16.92 seconds for a 9th place finish. In the 400-meter hurdles,
Christian Santiago clocked in with a 6th place finish in 59.69 seconds.
Benjamin Straebler ran in the 3k steeplechase and posted a time of 11:09.51, placing 8th overall.
The 4x400-meter relay 'A' team placed 2nd in 3:26.71. The team was made up of Cortez,
Terrell Lockett, Karlson and Santiago. The 'B' team placed 9th overall with a time of 3:50.09. The team was made up of
George Losche,
Michael Mohr,
Ryan Scully and Mercado.
In the field,
Jason Potterton grabbed a 5th place finish in the triple jump with a mark of 12.67-meters. In the long jump, he posted a mark of 5.79-meters and placed 12th overall while in the high jump,
Connor Belica placed 11th in the high jump when he cleared 1.75-meters, a new personal best.
Members of the team will compete at the Larry Ellis Invitational tomorrow at Princeton University while the whole team will compete at the Widener Invitational on April 22nd and 23rd.
