Staten Island, NY: The Ramapo College men's indoor track and field team competed at the Metropolitan Championships at the Ocean Breeze Track & Field Complex this afternoon. The Roadrunners, who tallied 46 team points in the meet, competed against a field of NCAA Division I teams.
Cheickna Traore posted a time of 21.61 seconds in the 200-meter dash which is currently the third best time in the NCAA Division III, when converted for a banked track (22.00 seconds). Traore's lowers his own school record and qualifies him for the AARTFC and ECAC/IC4A championship meets later this season. In the 60-meter dash, Traore finished third overall with a time of 7.01 seconds while his prelim time was 6.97.
Kenyon Federson posted a time of 7.22 seconds in the prelims of the 60-meter dash while he recorded a time of 23.42 seconds in the 200-meter dash. In the 400-meter finals,
Terrell Lockett crossed the finish line in 53.91 seconds.
Steven Fiumefreddo placed 4th in the mile with a personal best time of 4:19.27, which also qualifies him for the AARTFC championship meet later this season. His time is 9th all-time at Ramapo. Three Roadrunners finished in the top ten in the 800-meter race. Fiumefreddo finished 6th overall in 1:58.14 setting a new personal best while
Max Dubac clocked in at 1:58.60 for 8th place and
Matt Cortez placed 10th overall in 1:59.38, a new personal best.
Ryan Scully set a new personal best in the 1,000-meter race when he posted a time of 2:43.24, which is 9th all-time at Ramapo.
In the 3k race,
Chris Andersen finished 2nd overall and set a personal best with a time of 8:28.68. His time is 2nd all-time at Ramapo and qualifies him for the AARTFC championship meet.
Jason Mercado clocked in at 9:10.95 for a 7th place finish and personal best in the same event while
Ian McCauley (11th) and
Jared Krick (12th) finished back-to-back with times of 9:44.42 and 9:47.87, also both personal bests.
Mohamed Nidaazzi posted a time of 16:14.68 for a 4th place finish while
Justin Martone placed 7th in the 60-meter hurdles in 9.31 seconds. The 4x400-meter relay team clocked in at 3:31.01 while they placed 6th overall. The team was made up of
Max Dubac, Dillon Karlson, Lockett and Cortez.
In the field events,
Jason Potterton placed 8th in the triple jump with a mark of 12.71-meters (41' 8.5") while in the long jump he finished in 15th place with a jump of 5.91-meters (19' 4.75").
The Roadrunners return to action next weekend at either the David Hemery Valentine Invite in Boston, MA or the Fastrack National Invite back at the Ocean Breeze Complex.
